That is our target move in day!!! In saying that, I totally realize we may not make it and we have until August 20 to actually be out of our home but this is still our goal. I am posting a bunch of pictures. None of them are in any good order. If I were a good blogger, which you all know by now I am NOT, then I would always put before and after pics together. I didn't!! Sorry! But you will get reminded just how far we have come since February 30th! This picture is one of the first pictures of the master bedroom. I have a current pic down below. Please realize that currently all of our beautiful wood floors are still under layers of paper and cardboard until all of the painting is done. I am really looking forward to seeing them again!

This is the kitchen as it was when we bought the house. Remember the bushes we cut down to about 6 inches? They have grown back and I actually like the way they look now. It doesn't remind me of a cattle chute anymore! The two pots on the front porch have a fun story. Several years ago on one of our annual Round Top antiquing trips, my friend Cindy and I found these great huge urns. There was a pair and neither of us wanted two of them so we each bought one and both of us have used them for table bases. Cindy lives right across the street from the new house. A couple of weeks ago she called and said it was time to reunite the pair and my front porch needed them. It is her house warming gift to us! So.....Friday night we decided to move them. They are so heavy that it took two adult women and her 19 year old son to move them. It was a great time and will always be a special memory. They look kind of tacky right now because the plants are small but I will take an occasional pic as they grow up!

Diane working her magic on the front door.

Done...!

We are debating whether or not to take the screen door off. I knew he was the first to get kicked out of the nest when I looked up in the tree above me and saw his two siblings sitting on the branch.....

I think they were saying, " YOU go next.....NO, YOU go next....Look at HIM, he jumped and now he's NOT MOVING. I think the scale is much better for the house.

OK.....here are the first pics of the painted cabinets. The final coat is now on and they are starting on the walls....yeah!! The counter tops are now in but I couldn't get a pic because they covered them up almost as soon as they were installed. They are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It is a Calcutta marble and if you have ever used marble in a kitchen, it is not stain friendly. Well, it already has a 4" stain and we didn't even get to make it ourselves! It is kind of like getting a new car and getting your first ding....now it is over and we don't have to wait for it! I really do have the attitude that each stain will just be a memory and lots of memories are great!

OK...I searched and searched for my dining room chandelier. We finally gave my friend Diane the go-ahead and you would not believe the change. Bob LOVES it.....really LOVES it!! It just softened and updated the house. Life here has been non-stop and if you've ever experienced one or two of those times in your lives, then you know how hard it is to get caught up. I am committed to posting this new entry tonight!!! Even these pics are outdated by now. I will get these posted and then it will be easier for me to add new ones in the next few days! Thanks for your patience.

We traveled down to the Dallas National Cemetery for Memorial Day. Bob's dad is buried there. It is always such a sobering experience. I am so thankful that every grave there represents a person who loved this country enough to fight for the freedoms that I take for granted every day of my life. Thanks to every one of you.

The floors are actually stained with one coat of poly UNDER all of this cardboard and paper. This was the fruits of my labor one afternoon. The project is still not done. If you are not from the area, you are missing out on record heat and low rainfall. It was 105 today in McKinney. He is quite a character and we are so thankful for his talents. Anyway you can see the island minus the top, the cupboards installed and the pine floors down. As of today, the cupboards are now painted white and the floors are stained, varnished and covered with paper. This kitchen is the most amazing change in the house. It is so bright and happy. I am so excited to see the rest of it come together. The picture above and the one below are two examples of what may be obvious to one person, may not be obvious to the next guy. We needed to put a floor vent in the new kitchen floor. Bob had it marked out for the floor guy and when we came in today, there was a trapezoid carved in the floor instead of a rectangle.......any guesses on what he was thinking? Have YOU ever seen a trapezoid vent cover? Actually what you see is not what was really cut. It was a real trapezoid and this is after Bob messed with it a little. The next pic is the ceiling in the apartment staircase. We told the lighting guy we needed an electric box centered in the ceiling.....does that even look remotely centered? I'm not sure what he was thinking or drinking! Anyway, Bob went up into the attic today and put one up where it is supposed to be......centered in the ceiling! I guess he should have done it in the beginning!

Have you ever seen those street crews where there are 3 guys on a crew and only one is actually working???!!!!

This is our master bedroom floor! It will be my new kitchen island after a major overhaul. Bob and I, (well really mostly Bob!) were out working on it a couple of days ago and we started talking about the history behind it. I don't have a clue where it came from and the woman I bought it from didn't know either. So now the fun begins! We can MAKE ONE UP!! I took a close up of all of different paint colors that have been splashed on it over the years so I am thinking it was either in a hardware store or maybe an artist was using it. It's YOUR turn! Let's see what kind of stories we can up with. Please don't disappoint me and have nobody respond. I may be sad and never post again....just kidding! Anyway, Bob did an amazing job of taking the top off and putting it on the bottom so that I now have a shelf in the previously open space. He also put new sturdy legs on it and fortified it so well that all 5 grandkids could hop around on it and it won't fall apart! He is an amazing carpenter. Thanks again Bob! The piece is now in the hands of a friend who is painting it.....you will LOVE what she will do! As far as the new top, I want a zinc top but if that doesn't pan out, I will have Bob construct one out of the old remilled pine we are using in the house. More pics as it progresses.

Pink, turquoise, white, black, yellow....hmmmm

Bob has also been busy working on the porte cochere. The ceiling was falling down so he tore it down and put new bead board up, which by the way he said is terribly difficult for a 57 year old with trifocals! Then the fun started. Well I thought it looked like fun since it is one of things in the house that I couldn't wait to see GONE. There were these really bad plexiglass windows with bad screen doors on either side of this wonderful space. So we thought we would just order new divided light windows to replace them. At a price tag of $10000, yes that is four zeros, we decided better. We thought it would make a great all weather kind of living space so we just tore them out and VOILA! It looks great and we know we will enjoy many a rainy day under it.

I think those rays shining down are from God!! It doesn't have alot of history since it was only built in 1996. But we plan on changing that. When I first saw this house you all know I fell in love with the doors, windows and staircase. But the thing that really sold us on the property was this apartment. We have a garage apartment at our current house and it's the cutest thing ever. It has been such a blessing to us and God has allowed us the share it with so many others in that last 11 years. But this new one has one special person that it is intended for. Bob's mom, or Veloise, or as we all call her Grandma. At some point she will be coming to live here. She is one the most amazing women I know and she has been like a mom to me since my precious mom passed away. On most days she has more energy than I do, despite the fact that she has heart issues and arthritis so bad it is difficult for her to do so many activities she has done and loved for years. She can no longer climb stairs due to the arthritis so our current carriage house won't work for her. But....this one has an elevator!!!! Can you believe that? It was built for the previous owner's handicapped son. It could not be more perfect. It has 1100 sq ft and although we have some tweaking to do to make it "Grandma ready" , it will be so great to have her so close to us. We are really looking forward to the great times and the grandkids will also love rides on the elevator! I know it will be hard for her to leave her home and we are encouraging her not to do it until she is 100% ready, but when she is it will be waiting for her. By the way, I will get a picture of her driving her VW bug....it is cutest thing! I will post more pictures of it.

The staircase with the NASTIEST carpet you had ever seen....gone! It was so much fun. We went down to the clinic to visit Papa. She totally did NOT like seeing those dogs opened up wide on the surgery table. She just buried her head in Papa's shoulder til they were out the surgery area. She went home and told her mom she did NOT want to be a vet!! So funny! Lunch with Papa and pancakes followed. After that we headed out to Hobby Lobby and got some paint supplies so she could paint on her first canvas. She was so excited! We came home and she painted the whole background a pale pink. My best friend Nan told me how to do this! Thanks Nan! Then she started painting her masterpiece. She called it Merry Christmas. It is so adorable. Maybe not a vet, but she could be an artist!

I had a wedding to do this past weekend and these are a few pics of the flowers. This old green counter may end being my new island. Of course when we get done "reworking" it you probably won't recognize it. I am still vacillating between have one built or using an old one. It has to be very kid friendly above all else. This will be Nana's craft table with the babies. It needs new legs, a shelf on the bottom and some paint! It is now on Bob's "honey-do" list!

I also found this great chair and my cow rug. You may be thinking 'what is she going to do with a white cow rug"? You will just have to wait and see! I love it. This is also a great chair. Great scale and just needs some linen on it. We had such a great time with the family but we missed Jeff, Kristen, Aves, Sawyer and Ben. We are hoping to spend alot more laketime with them after their move from Lubbock to Tyler. Jeff is graduating from med school next month and has taken a Family Practice residency in Tyler. Our son in law Paul is graduating from law school next month too! It is my goal to get this done today!! For you bloggers out there...do you sometimes have periods of time when you just can't seem to keep up??!! Well I can at least verbally update you and then later today or tonight try the pictures again. The whole kitchen, master bathroom and closet have been torn apart all the way to the studs. We have had 3 dumpster loads hauled away already if that tells you how much stuff has been removed from the floors and walls....wow! The electrician and plumber should finish the major stuff in the next couple of days. We have step walls going into the kitchen and bath today so by tonight we should actually see some rebuilding! I am meeting with the cabinet builder this afternoon so we are rockin' and rollin'! There is another whole part of this project that I have not even blogged about. The garage apartment......more to come because that will be a story in and of itself! Thanks for checking the blog each day and be patient with me and my computer!! Later!janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-2431084382219802602010-03-29T16:59:00.000-07:002010-03-29T17:37:53.650-07:00Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party". -Robin WilliamsThanks Dave Rolston! For those of you who don't know Dave, he is an amazing landscape architect. Check him out at www.Dallasgardens.com. He is also from Iowa so he has got to be a great guy! Anyway, today he gave us our preliminary landscape plan. We haven't had a chance to really study it yet but I love his concepts. Granted, we will be doing the yard in phases but it will be another adventure for us. And if you are wondering if our crew showed up for work this morning...that would be a negative. On top of that, their phone has been disconnected.....hmmmmmm! I will keep you updated on that issue. Off to Round Top Flea market tomorrow! Will post some pics of our adventures there. Have a great week! If you want a larger view of the landscape plan just click on the picture.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 259px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S7E_FPi6CZI/AAAAAAAAASY/ArEm9dEWBb0/s400/small+for+web.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454209983027218834" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-58616605553170850592010-03-28T18:28:00.000-07:002010-03-29T08:14:01.950-07:00No Turning BackWe came home from a few days in Savannah and were so excited to see the progress on the house. We had great friends watching out for us and the house in our absence so we had full confidence that the house would still be in one piece upon our return.....and it was, so to speak! But the emotions that flooded over us as we observed the demolition, took me by surprise. There are pipes and wires literally hanging out of the walls, floors and ceilings. If you are standing in the master bathroom, you can look through the floor and see the foyer down below. We are talking layers of floors and ceilings gone. I could start to see the layers of the house's history revealed through three linoleums on the kitchen floor and several layers of wallpaper in the master bath. But as fun as it was to see it all, fear started to creep in as I wondered if all of this could ever be put back together so that this would be a "home" for our family. Bob on the other hand didn't experience fear, but his mind just started in overdrive as he started to triage the situation. I have heard that the demolition is the easy part but I have my doubts. This crew didn't know what they were getting into when they started this project. They are an inspiration to me. It didn't matter how hard the work was, they just kept at it. Actually, I hope they will still show up tomorrow morning! I have posted a few before and present pictures so you can kind of get an idea of where we are.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S7AENREMUmI/AAAAAAAAASI/N-_LLP1hZjU/s400/DSCN0005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453863774711468642" />
The master closet. This is a wonderful city, so rich in history and charm. We toured a couple of old cemeteries today. A few pics in the cemetery are below as well as the live oak trees with the intriguing spanish moss. We also toured the Mercer House. This is the house made famous in the book and movie Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. Actually my favorite part of the tour was the sunken garden in the courtyard. Unfortunately they don't allow photos and I have been online trying to find a picture of it. I would love to have one at the new house! Friday we will go on the Savannah Home and Garden tour.....can't wait to get ideas. More pics later! There has been alot going on at the house but since we are not there, we will all have to wait a few days to see the progress! It is a funny story and I wish Bob could tell it because he is a great story teller. Anyway, last Monday we were scheduled to have the demolition crew show up and start taking the kitchen and bathrooms apart. Bob shows up at the house at 8am to let the crew in. No trucks parked but there is a man out on the curb with his yellow bike and his multicolored plastic shopping bag. Bob went into the house and a few minutes later, Uncle Delfino and his Nephew Andy came in and Bob was introduced to the "ONE man wrecking crew"! He was all we had for demolition for the day. That's what we thought anyway, until about 8pm when five others showed up to help with the process. Andy leaves....Uncle stays... he doesn't speak a word of English! But he seems to understand Bob's sign language because he did a great job for us.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6qdMcvUTsI/AAAAAAAAAOg/7i6kbY1pw8M/s400/DSC00087.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452343136084053698" />
This is Uncle Delfino's bike. I LOVE Paula Deen. Bob and I are in Savannah with my dear friend Nan and her hubby Bob. We just HAD to find Lady and Sons and get our fill of buttery Southern food. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, black eyed peas, collard greens, ho cakes and biscuits....followed by the best brownie! Where did "ho" cakes come from anyway? I'm not really a southern girl, although I love southern cooking....so if any of you know the answer to that, let me know! FYI...I didn't really order Chicken Pot Pie on top of everything else, I just wanted to let you know how proud she is of hers! Having a great time here and will post a couple of local pictures later tonight!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6qb55jkzJI/AAAAAAAAANo/CiQCGiVFzj4/s400/DSC00118.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452341717890288786" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-18697205496997950912010-03-21T10:57:00.000-07:002010-03-21T11:16:30.311-07:00March Madness<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6Zh9Z7wjBI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/1Mo_L6IDOCE/s400/DSC00071.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451152106540010514" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6Zh853O48I/AAAAAAAAAMI/fnMg9J5ClzE/s400/DSC00075.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451152097931092930" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6Zh8LBG_nI/AAAAAAAAAMA/j7PPi8cXHgg/s400/DSC00076.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451152085356052082" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6Zh7rCfKuI/AAAAAAAAAL4/pcBnQV3v9-4/s400/DSC00070.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451152076771896034" />
This may not be the March Madness that we are accustomed to watching this time of year, but this is definitely March and this is madness! Yesterday was cold with a few flakes here and there but this is what we woke up to this morning! I would expect this in the midwest but here in Dallas? It is so beautiful though and I am thankful for it. It is one of the things I miss about Iowa and Colorado so this winter has been a treat for us. Our current cottage always looks beautiful in the snow! It was 70 yesterday and 36 and snow flurries today...go figure! We love spring in Texas. So we are off for another hunt today.
You know we are all about uncovering covered treasures hidden within this house. Well, today we wanted to reclaim a window in the kitchen and explore the possibility of uncovering the butler pantry door. We have been working with a architect on the plans for the kitchen. He kept this unknown window covered but for those of you who know me...I love windows and lots of natural light in a house. It just seems a shame and a waste to leave part of the original house covered...so....this is what we found!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6VoxpbioRI/AAAAAAAAALo/fZUoqANV2jI/s400/DSC00027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450878126146101522" />
This is what the space looked like from the outside. We don't even know if they left the door between these boards and the interior wall but we are hoping they have. We are not even sure what to do with this doorway, but we know that if we reclaim it, it would add to the historocity of the house. In the 20's, there was a driveway on that side of the house and we believe the door was used by the butler since it led into the butler's pantry. It may be possible to reclaim it from the outside for the visual effect, but encase it on the interior wall of the kitchen. It just doesn't work with the new kitchen plan. We will think on this one.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S6VGfUJfDBI/AAAAAAAAAKw/MLhPCuUnPLs/s400/DSC00058.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450840427800235026" />
Bob took his circular saw and cut a 12x24 hole in the existing wall.....and there it is! Well..I am rediscovering there are periods of flurry and periods of stagnation when you take on a project of this magnitude. We are coming through the latter. We have actually had some progress but nothing that is picture worthy. Lots of sewer lines, electrical and roof repairs. Not the fun stuff but the necessary stuff. I did go out and purchased a new camera today. My son Jeff suggested I use one that takes panoramic views so you can really see the whole room as it evolves. So now I will try to figure out how to use it. I am not very techy.!! Tomorrow I need to have my final decisions on the appliances. This has really been the most stressful part of the whole project to date. I have been to three stores and read all I can read on Consumer Reports. I still don't know which ones to choose. There are some really cool ovens and stove tops out there. One of them actually has a "culinary center" option that will bake your cookies light, medium or dark and crunchy! Tempting!! So...I promise a picture or two this weekend. Maybe we will have a few hours to work on uncovering the chimney! Enjoy the rest of the week!janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-658894148278816552010-03-11T20:43:00.000-08:002010-03-12T00:13:06.653-08:00DISCOVERING AND UNCOVERING THE HIDDEN CHIMNEY

There are 2 beautiful chimneys seen on our new roof. One is to the fabulous fireplace in the living room....the other one took a little detective work. It seems at one time there may have been a second fireplace in the kitchen nook but has since been covered by drywall and concrete. We had no idea what we would find behind those walls but we did know that if we could expose that brick it could add such charm to the kitchen and the eating nook. I have always loved the look of old exposed brick walls.. Sooo....Bob got off a little early today and headed over there in his scrubs and went to work! 70 minutes later, this is what was exposed. It is enough to get us excited about what it will look like as more is uncovered. Will take a few more pics this weekend. Have a great Friday....the weekend is almost here!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S5nGr_uNM0I/AAAAAAAAAKQ/tqraLv4a7G0/s400/photo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447603683423236930" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S5nGrvGqfSI/AAAAAAAAAKI/3X9IFpk3kPg/s400/photo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447603678962416930" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-19934499632022601542010-03-09T18:27:00.000-08:002010-03-09T19:02:11.331-08:00DOORS

Since there are not alot of visible changes in the house and several have asked about more pictures of the doors, that will be the post for today. They are some of our favorite things. Some are doors, others are details on the doors. We have great doors and a couple of pretty ugly doors! The walls were finished today and look fabulous! What a change! Demolition of the kitchen and bathrooms should start next week. Tomorrow is appliance day....no one voiced any opinion on brands so I think I am on my own! Have a great day!

<img style="display:block; Can you believe this picture? These guys work so hard. I'm glad they wear masks when they are sanding all of these walls but I do worry about the long term effects of breathing that stuff. Well now that I really look at him, that is not a mask but a rag over his mouth. His nose is really covered in that stuff. oops! They should finish up tomorrow and then I think they will be back in a week or so to start tearing out everything in the kitchen and bathrooms. I am in the process of looking at appliances for the kitchen. There are so many choices and the only thing I know we want is stainless steel. Anyone have any suggestions pro or con on different brands? I think SubZero looks cool but I feel like I am just paying for a name....same for Wolf and Thermador. Maybe they are really worth the money, I just don't know.
We also met with the Landscape Architect yesterday. He had some interesting things to say but at the end of the consultation I can't really tell you what his vision for the yard is. I think he wants more input from me.....later. If you look at the front view of the house, there is a row of boxwoods lining the front walk. He feels like it is like walking up a cattle shoot!! After all he is also from Iowa and grew up on a farm so he should know, right? Well, he suggests we cut them down to 8" and let them take a more rounded look. I know it sounds really severe..it is!!! What do you all think? Do you like the look of them or not?
Well it will be another rainy day here in Dallas tomorrow but the daffodils are blooming! I saw my first flowering Bradford Pear yesterday! Spring is such a time of renewal. God is great!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S5QzLYE6w9I/AAAAAAAAAGs/jUok4rwgX-k/s400/IMG_6864.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446034119932429266" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-46058188321799453672010-03-05T19:54:00.000-08:002010-03-05T20:31:31.854-08:00The Flood Returns

You remember the pictures of the entry ceiling stained by the leaking toilet upstairs? Well....it wasn't the toilet this time but the bathtub! The crew of guys working on the walls yesterday filled the tub so they had access to water while the plumber was working. That was fine but they forgot to turn the water off and it ran all night. Bob walked into water coming out of the ceiling again this morning. With adrenaline pumping, he quickly found the source. Along with being a great surgeon, he is a great detective and a great clean up man! He wears lots of hats! Actually that is why there aren't many pictures the last couple of days. Other than the work on the walls and the plumber digging out from under the house, it doesn't look like much has happened. If you were to step outside you would know differently. Bob and a couple of workers have worked tirelessly cutting down branches, cleaning old garden beds, removing the lean to off of the garage. We totally filled the dumpster and it was taken away and returned empty! We haven't even started actual renovation yet! Ok...tomorrow we meet with a landscaper. Can't wait to hear some of his suggestions. Have a great weekend! Spring is here!

This is our "Tigger". He is 14 years old and has no idea he has to get used to another "new" house.!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S5HSuKWfpzI/AAAAAAAAAGk/-EpRBi5Tdik/s400/IMG_6854.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="

BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445365114962159410" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S5HSthMlfFI/AAAAAAAAAGc/ViN_YnwIsK8/s400/IMG_6841.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445365103914744914" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5099986364574153956.post-57937866473940059812010-03-03T19:59:00.000-08:002010-03-03T20:08:58.168-08:00Today the guys finished the first coat of texture and started on the second coat. It was so good to have the red wall disappear from the living room. Now the fireplace takes center stage instead of the wall. I think this is better picture of the fireplace than the last one I posted. The strange mauve strip on the ceiling is plaster coving and will not stay like that! We had good friends take a tour tonight. Everyone is so excited about this amazing house. Preliminary kitchen plans coming on Monday! Things are a changin' !!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uNeGtsN2MaI/S48wZWHiK_I/AAAAAAAAAGU/St_kjTn7mKk/s320/IMG_6825.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444623686506261490" />janhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17056654437084382587noreply@blogger.com2
